Special harvest at Karaka Point

free web counterKaraka Point Vineyard celebrated 10 years of harvesting its chardonnay grapes at the weekend.
Thirty friends and family of its owner, Anne Martin, came together to pick grapes and to celebrate the milestone. Franklin mayor Mark Ball made a fleeting visit to cut the first grapes of the season.
"I'm really proud to be here at the 10-year mark. The grapes are getting better and better all the time. It's very rewarding," says Anne.
Celebrations will continue on April 15 with a wine and food festival at the vineyard. From 11am to 4pm there will be live jazz, wood-fire pizza and of course, a variety of the vineyard's wine. Tickets cost $5 at the gate or you can book online.
